Welcome to...
Hillsborough River Eco-Centre

About Us..

logoThe Eco-Centre was established and opened in 2005 by the Hillsborough River Area Development Corporation, a non- profit community group. HRADC’s main goal for the Eco-Centre is to promote and preserve the Hillsborough River, the Islands first Canadian Heritage River.

The Eco-Centre...

houses many fascinating displays on the wildlife, environment and cultural history of the area, including many intriguing artifacts as well as videos to view in the mini-theatre. After a tour of the Eco-Centre, we recommend that the class explore the nearby Pigot Trail, which provides an opportunity to see a wealth of birds, plants, and other wildlife. The Confederation Trail also offers a perfect opportunity to see the area, by walking along the river edge.

We offer...

school tours that will include a guest speaker, whom of which will pertain to the class studies. The principal or teacher could contact us, and we will arrange an appropriate speaker. There is a picnic area on the premises, for the students to eat their lunch, and enjoy the outdoors. The goal for these school tours is to create an extension to the class curriculum, but also for the students to have fun while they are learning
